The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blogs.
I knew I wasn’t going to follow my Weekly TBR last week… but I still read a TON–surprising since I’ve been in a weird funk.

- Ruthless Games #2-3 by Callie Rose 🍰
⭐⭐⭐ – Interesting series although it felt like it was missing something to truly get me to love it. - Pin-up Girl by Blake Blessing 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Not at all what I expected. This was a mystery and dark and lovely. - The Cool Aunt by Ilona Andrews 🌱
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 – A little extra by Ilona Andrews on their website. I loved it! - The Heights Crew #1-4 by E.M. Moore 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Definitely some cringe moments and her plan for revenge wasn’t a plan AT ALL, but I couldn’t stop reading. A popcorn-eating, binge-worthy series.
- Playing With Fire by L.J. Shen 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 – L.J. Shen seems to be hit-or-miss with me, so I’m always worried about starting their books, but can’t seem to stop myself. I’m so glad I picked this one up though, this was great. - Queen’s Quality, Vol. 2 by Kyousuke Motomi 💥
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Probably my favorite out of the few manga series I’m currently reading. - Say Her Name by Zetta Elliot 🎧🌱
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Poetry is best when listened to and I think that does apply her. An emotional read. - Drawing the Vote by Tommy Jenkins 💥
⭐⭐⭐.5 – Informative, but at times too much. I appreciate all the history and shining a light on minorities, but I would have liked more on current times. - The Black Mage by Daniel Barnes & D.J. Kirkland 💥
⭐⭐⭐.5 – This was so, so heavy-handed. It is uncomfortable. But also and important read and I hope youth enjoy reading a book where the main characters take down the KKK.
- The Demon Prince of Momochi House, Vol. 2 by Aya Shouto 💥
⭐⭐⭐ – Yeeeaaahhh, I’m not going to continue. It is okay and I like the artwork, but the characters and their actions don’t make sense. - Friends With the Monsters by Albany Walker 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – a re-read to remember what happened for book 2. I did like this one more on the second read through. - Some Kind of Monster by Albany Walker 🍰🐾
⭐⭐⭐ – eeeehhhh this was okay. Interesting, I’m glad I read it, but I still have so many questions and the series is over. - Beautiful & Dirty by Katrina Jackson 🍰🌱
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 – This novella is just the start of their series!! I want more so badly omg. - The Hitman by Katrina Jackson 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – This was fabulous, I love the female main character, and just everything about this. I cannot wait for more in this series and hopefully we get the continuation for BEautiful & Dirty soon!!!
- Academy of the Forgotten by Eva Chase 🍰🐾
⭐⭐.5 – This book annoyed me to no end. It is dark and mysterious, I read to figure out the mystery, but omg no I can’t keep going. - Tormentor Mine by Anna Zaires
⭐⭐⭐ – Dark like I have been wanting, but not what I’m craving it felt… too realistically dark for me maybe? I mean, he killed he husband… - When She Belongs by Ruby Dixon 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – This was sweet and fun. Not really what I’m in the mood for, but enough to carry me through. I just really am loving Ruby Dixon. - Anonymous Noise, Vol. 8 & 9 by Ryoko Fukuyama 💥
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Is the romance still back and forth? Yeah. So much angst, but I love the artwork, I love feeling the music coming off the page and these kids have sucked me in, so I guess I’ll be finishing this series.
»Did Not Finish
I ot only 2% into Liar, Liar (give me a break it is over 500 pages) before I gave up. I couldn’t stand the writing or the characters. Shunned I made it about 12% in before calling it quits because I hated the love interests and it was feelings oddly…racist??? Am I the only one that thinks this?!
»Currently Reading
So, with both Raise Hell (Currently 23% in) and Hitman’s Guide to… (1 chapter in) I’m enjoying them, but I’m so not in the mood for them. I’m waiting until I am to continue them because I want to love them and if I read them right now I don’t think they’d get the rating they deserve.
General News
Books: So, yeah I read a ton of books and kind of kept to my overall TBR, buuuuttt not really.
Reviews: Nothin’ but I’m cool with this. I’m still getting into the groove again. I might give myself the rest of the month off and start again in October. *sigh* I’m never going to c atch up.
Watched: Not a whole lot this week. For date night we ended up watching Double World which was… interesting. Thinking of it like a D&D game helped my fiance enjoy it.
Today
I feel like I’m looking for something specific, but I can’t pinpoint what exactly. Sooooo here are some options…
Anonymous Noise is what I’m looking for at all, but I can read manga whenever and I’m enjoying reading about all these kiddo’s angst. Plus, there isn’t a wait on the rest of the series (finally), so I might as well continue, right? Another book I’m being pulled to read? Don’t Rush Me and I have no idea why. I’m also kind of feeling Dirty Filthy Rich Men which is kind of dark, I think?
I still don’t know though… I’ve spent like 2 hours looking at books to read and I’m still not being immediately drawn to something. I’m not desperate to read anything I’ve come across, so I think I just need to pick something and jump in….
What are you doing on this lovely Sunday?
