Perhaps my favorite out of the whole series???
  • Spy x Family, Vol. 2 by Tatsuya Endo
This series is hilarious! Totally binge-worthy.
  • Beard With Me by Penny Reid
Fam, I did it. I made it through this sad as hell book. I’m well on my way with my Winston Brothers re-read now.
  • Engagement and Espionage by Penny Reid
I do wish I had read this one after rereading book 4, but oh well. Fun and cozy. My next up in this reread is Beard With Me… I think.
  • Storm Forged by Lindsay Buroker
Has this series been on my Top 10 list for the past 5 months??? Yes, yes it has.
  • Demons Do It Better by Louisa Masters
Hilarious, supernatural, and altogether a hellava lot of fun. I am so excited that we are getting more from this series.
  • Be Not Far From Me by Mindy McGinnis
This audiobook… just wow. I was blown away. A thriller for sure and I was so invested, so worried.
  • Only When It’s Us by Chloe Liese
A misunderstanding between a soccer player, who is the female for once, and a solid guy who is hard of hearing. Such a great read and the sequel is adorable too! Throwing tropes on their head and including diverse disabilities.
  • The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
Another book that has me going “WOW.” It is brutal, funny, and intense. I can’t wait to read on.
  • Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
HARROW!!!~ UGH yes I was confused for 70% of the book, it had me writing notes, taking pictures, etc. and the last bit just blew everything up. I can’t wait for Alecto!

Hey look, it wasn’t all romance 😉 Continue reading “August ’20 Wrap Up”

Book Haul

We Own Tonight (Second Time Around #1)Before Girl

We Own Tonight I was able to grab for free — the audiobook version even so I was pretty excited. Unfortunately, after listening for 45 minutes I was not a fan and DNF’d it.

Before Girl I nabbed for free from Claire Kingsley’s newsletter. I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet, but it looks cute.

Reading Challenges/Goals Highlights

Last year I went over every single challenge, this year I’ll make this section shorter and include the ones I’m more excited about/want to talk about and do quarterly (maybe) updates on everything.

»Goodreads Challenge 46/325

We are off to a good start!

»Listen to 10 Audiobooks

This is where I’m rocking things. I listened to 2 audiobooks completed and DNF’d 1. This is thanks to the road trip. I also am currently listening to another one, so I’m happy about this.

»PopSugar & Read Harder Challenges

Popsugar I’ve completed 24 out of 52 challenges — Almost halfway through!! Without even trying so this is great.

Read Harder is a little more difficult and I’m halfway through it (8/16). I’m feeling so good about these.

»Blogging

Look, I’ve been busy and stressed… I’m trying, but ugh. I’m hoping February is better for me here.

»Life

Does the road trip count for anything??? We went out and I’m trying to do at least one productive thing a day even if it is just making dinner, cleaning dishes, etc. In February I’ll start keeping track of this.
Exercise etc, I’ve just been so tired… again, once I’m hoping that once I’m completely moved in I’ll get into this.

Final Thoughts

So much happened in January. I’m glad with the progress I’ve made and hope this keeps up for next month!

December ’19 Wrap Up

My last monthly wrap up of 2019 — my wrap up of the year will be coming soon! For now though, this is how I ended my year!

Last month I read 44 books*!
*counting novellas and graphic novels

Not the least amount I’ve read in a month… but it is the second to last amount. I’m not sad though– I still like this amount!

Here are the top 10 books I read this month:

Back to having a hard time picking a top 10– I read some AWESOME books in December! I decided not to include any re-reads in the running for top 10 this month.

Seven Blades in Black (The Grave of Empires, #1)Cosmoknights (Cosmoknights, #1)Him (Him, #1)Beastars, Vol. 1Pumpkinheads

Heartsong (Green Creek, #3)Aurora Rising (The Aurora Cycle, #1)The Merciful Crow (The Merciful Crow, #1)Baby & the Late Night HowlersThe Lost and the Chosen (The Lost Sentinel, #1)

  • Seven Blades in Black by Sam Sykes
Only a three star rating, but this is one I do think about on occasion and I see myself recommending. It made the list, by continuing to catch my attention.
  • Cosmoknights by Hannah Templer
A graphic novel I found randomly on Hoopla. Beautiful art and amazing story. I can’t wait to read more!
  • Him by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy
I’m a sucker for hockey romances, especially ones this cute.
  • Beastars, vol. 1&2 by Paru Itagaki
I borrowed these volumes from a coworker and LOVED reading it!
  • Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell & Faith Erin Hicks
Probably the cutest book I read last month.
  • Heartsong by TJ Klune
I think every book of this series has made my monthly top 10 lists…
  • Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
So fun, but also my heart is still in such pain…
  • The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owens
This was a ton of fun! I can’t wait to see what happens next.
  • Baby + The Late Night Howlers by Kathryn Moon
Just… UGH I loved every minute of reading this one. I just wish it was longer so it didn’t have to end.
  • The Lost and The Chosen by Ivy Asher
Wow, this book took me by surprise! I’ll be continuing it ASAP.

Book Haul

I actually hauled quite a lot (for me) this month. And some gooooood stuff ^_^

Christmas in the CityThe Coldest Girl in ColdtownDeath Knell (Foundling, #3)Good Boy (WAGs, #1)Stay (WAGs, #2)

Christmas in the City was my only free book of the month AND the only one I read. It was a great pick and I’m pretty sure I’ll re-read it next year.
Google Play gave me a $5 credit for an eAudiobook! I couldn’t pass up using it, so I picked up The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, a book I’ve considered re-reading.
Then I grabbed a $3 credit from Google Play and picked up Death Knell.
Last up, I noticed Good Boy and Stay had been withdrawn from the library, so I grabbed both at the booksale for $1! Having the spin-off of Him means I’ll have to buy that series eventually 😁

Reading Challenges/Goals Update

–I’ll be going over this in my 2019 Wrap-up so I’ll skip this portion, except for…

»Additional Monthly Goals….

Read 10 ARCs — I read 11!!! I’ve never read so many in one month before. Sure, a few of these were DNFs, but STILL! This is such progress. I’m so happy.
….now I just need to review them.

October reviews done & ARCs reviewed — I reviewed all my books through November 💃🏻🎉, but I still have so, so many ARCs that need reviews. I’ll count this as a half win.

I wanted to get more resumes out into the world — instead I accepted a job offer!
I wanted to keep up in the shows I’ve previous started… I did watch more Supernatural and I crocheted A TON! But, I picked up Bob’s Burgers. Which… I’m okay with. This has been a nice change.

Final Thoughts

What a great way to end the year. I read so many great books and I got sh*t done! I’m proud of myself ^_^

I’m ready to start 2020!!

Look forward to my 2019 wrap up coming soon!
