May ’20 Monthly TBR

I like sharing what books I’m planning on reading each month and it also helps me remember which books I want to read. I actually look back at this post periodically throughout the month– I’ve lost counts of the amount of times I’ve double-checked it and realized I had forgotten about a buddy read!!

So, what exactly is on my TBR this month….

»Group/Buddy Reads

Sin & Lightning (Demigods of San Francisco, #5)Orientation Week (Breakbattle Academy #0.5)Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1)Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1)Forged by Desire (London Steampunk, #4)Pirate Nemesis (Telepathic Space Pirates #1)

This first weekend Sin & Lightning and Orientation Week are on the schedule for buddy reading. I’m running behind on my Hollows re-read, so I need to read Dead Witch Walking and the second one The Good, The Bad, and the Undead. Magic Bites is another monthly group read, just starting this month. Forged by Desire and potentially the fifth book are also on the table as potentials. And Pirate Nemesis is a group read.

So, so many buddy and group reads this month.

Monthly Goals

ARCs: Go big or go home, yeah? I want to try to read 10 ARCs in May.

Reviews: Uuuuggghhhhh minimum goal? keep the books I need to review under 100. My actual goal? I want to get it down to 50.

Misc: This month I want to listen to more audiobooks and perhaps even start a podcast. I’ve been enjoying playing audiobooks in the background and think podcasts could be a good alternative too.
It would also be great if I could fit more stretching in. I’ve been sitting way too much or laying down for long stretches of time– forgetting to get up. So, stretching and getting up regularly would be key.

What will you be reading this month?

I read quite a few shorter books this month…

Here are the top 10 books I read this month:

  • Sinister Magic by Lauren Buroker
This series? So, it is hilarious. I’m loving it.
  • Blasphemy by TJ Klune
It may be short but WOW it lit up my day. This will be a future re-read for sure.
  • The Lightning-Struck Heart by TJ Klune
Hilarious — so funny I had to put it down and try calm breathing techniques in the breakroom so people didn’t think I was nuts.
  • The Bird and The Sword by Amy Harmon
Wow this one is beautifully written. I loved reading it.
  • The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
Yes, another TJ Klune, I was on a roll this month. This was my favorite of the month.
  • The Emperor’s Edge by Lindsay Buroker
The dry humor here, the fun adventure with a family-type crew coming togrther– this was fun.
  • Baking Me Crazy by Karla Sorenson

April ’20 Monthly TBR

I like sharing what books I’m planning on reading each month and it also helps me remember which books I want to read. I actually look back at this post periodically throughout the month– I’ve lost counts of the amount of times I’ve double-checked it and realized I had forgotten about a buddy read!!

So, what exactly is on my TBR this month….

»Group/Buddy Reads

Druid Vices and a Vodka (The Guild Codex: Spellbound, #6)Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1)Smoke Bitten (Mercy Thompson, #12)Ruby (Jewels Cafe, #6)Betrayals & Broken Promises (Masquerade of Myths, #1)

Druid Vices and a Vodka isn’t truly a buddy read, but one group has a few people reading the whole series, so I’m counting it. I love this series!! Dead Witch Walking is the start of a series re-read. And I’m guessing that Ruby will win– otherwise it is a placeholder for the group read pick.

»Challenges

Claire Kingsley’s Apr. Challenge–

The WitnessA Bad Day for Sunshine (Sunshine Vicram, #1)Stay (WAGs, #2)Ruby (Jewels Cafe, #6)

Claire Kingsley’s Bonus Apr. Challenge-

Stud Muffin (Donner Bakery, #2)Tru Blue (The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor, #1)Sol & Lune (Sol & Lune #1)

Read Harder Challenge

I need to start reading for prompts — I think I can fit these in. If I can do Hedwig as an audiobook that will be a double-win!

Hedwig and the Angry InchAsh

»April ARCs:

A Bad Day for Sunshine (Sunshine Vicram, #1)Ruthless Gods (Something Dark and Holy, #2)The Perfect Escape (Perfect Escape, #1)Chosen Ones (The Chosen Ones, #1)Not That Kind of GuyThe Rakess (Society of Sirens, #1)

Monthly Goals:

ARCs: I’ve had some bad luck with ARCs lately, but I need to do better. Last month I met my goal of 5, so this month let’s bump it up to 7.

Reviews: Okay, 2019 reviews are done — time to get January and half of February done and catch up on ARC reviews. I am getting better at review writing !

Not Book Related: I want to start working out or jogging a little with my dog more often. Staying at home means I need to force myself to get up more. I’m taking it easy on the going out and being social since lol we really shouldn’t be doing that anyhow.

What are you excited to read this month?

State of the Arc #2

Happy Saturday, friends!

Last year I shared my ARCs weekly, but that was starting to feel like a bit much and made me more guilty than motivated to finish anything. I’m hoping a monthly post will be better for me. Therefore, I’ll be trying out State of the ARC, hosted by Avalinah’s Books !😁

I totally missed doing this in February (whoops!!)

Anyhow, let’s see how this month is…
