November ’19 Wrap Up

What a month. I did SO MUCH READING! I’m quite surprised with myself especially since I also did a few other things and I was so stressed. Honestly, I’m still shocked that November is over.

Last month I read 53 books*!

October ’19 Wrap Up

Okay, between being sick, family visiting, and a weird slump, last month I read the least amount of books in a long time…

Last month I read 22 books*!
*counting novellas and graphic novels

This is half of what a have been reading and a third of what I was reading in the beginning of the year. While part of me keeps thinking this is bad–it isn’t! Doing other things is fantastic for my mental health haha.

Here are the top 5 books I read this month:

The Blacksmith Queen (The Scarred Earth Saga, #1)Grimoire NoirGideon the Ninth (The Locked Tomb, #1)The Girl With All the Gifts (The Girl With All the Gifts, #1)The Graveyard Book

  • The Blacksmith Queen by G.A. Aiken
Hilarious author and reading this made me start re-reading the Dragon Kin series.
  • Grimoire Noir by Vera Greentea & Yana Bogatch
While the storyline left much to desire, the artwork here is so, so beautiful I’d want to hang pictures on my wall.
  • Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
Honestly this one might make my top list for the year.
  • The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey
I love out of the box zombie books and this one worked for me.
  • The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
Love, love, LOVE this full cast audiobook.

Book Haul

Trick or Treat in New Jersey: A Halloween Adventure Through the Garden State

Of all things, this is the book my mom bought me when she came to visit. I think I mentioned how it is cute and I bought one for my library annndd so she bought it for me?

Reading Challenges/Goals Update

✔ Goodreads Reading Challenge

Currently surpassed my goal by 100%… I read a ton of short books and have absolutely no life… I was trying to change this.

»Pop Sugar Reading Challenge

38/52.
No progress. I need to decide if I’m going to push myself through, orrrr ignore it. I might just ignore since I’m having so much more fun mood reading.

»Read More Childrens/Middle Grade books

No progress this month….

»Read More Diverse Books

I actually feel decent about this one!!

»Series TBR Takedown

Giving up on this one since I never feel like reading these books.

»Take Time to NOT Read

I visited with family, I started playing 3 mobile games, I started some anime shows — there were many days this month were I did not read. It felt stressful, but I also want to read again which is nice.

»Additional Monthly Goals….

I pretty much threw these goals out the window. Except, I did read more thrillers and horror books intentionally. It diversified my reading a bit which was nice…. even if I read like no ARCs :/

Final Thoughts

I need to take a break from requesting ARCs because I barely read them.

Not reading makes me want to read more — go figure.

September ’19 Wrap-Up

Oh September, where did you go? My week of vacation has thrown everything off. I still can’t believe we are in October!!

Last month I read 54 books*!
*counting novellas and graphic novels

My reading has gone up for the first time since May! And yet, not many books truly stand out from the bunch. Finding a top 10 was not difficult, this month I went with a top 6.

Here are the top 6 books I read this month:

Addie (Pack of Misfits #1)Harley Quinn: Breaking GlassGypsy Truths (All The Pretty Monsters #6)

Work for ItThe Cardinal Bird (The Cardinal, #1)The Monster of Elendhaven

Book Haul

Bone Driven (Foundling, #2)

I bought and read the first book last month and when I finally earned enough for this one, I snapped it up. I’ll read it soon enough ^_^

Just one Middle Grade book this past month. Blah! Come on…

»Read More Diverse Books

I actually feel decent about this one!!

»Series TBR Takedown

Giving up on this one since I never feel like reading these books.

»Take Time to NOT Read

While on vacation I actually did a TON of things! I also did some Netflix watching– movies, some TV shows– I have some more possible conversation topics! 😁

»Additional Monthly Goals….

I wanted to read 9 ARCs, but only got to 7. I’m… okay with this since it is higher that previous months.
My reviews on the other hand are out of control because of two weekends on vacation and not feeling well. Most of my ARCs have been reviewed though, so that is a positive note.
I didn’t get the shows I wanted to watch, watched though. I started other things… but oh well.

Final Thoughts

5 DNFs this month, although it felt like so much more. I had fun reading this month and for that, I’m considering it a good month. Currently, still under the weather soooo I’m having a hard time thinking deeply about anything right now haha. All is well though, yeah?

How was your month??

July ’19 Wrap Up — Wait, Already?!

July was a month of change for me. I moved (just 20 minutes away, but still) and Summer Reading still proves to be keeping me worn out at work, so this is another month of mostly mood reads. I never thought I’d use Kindle Unlimited so much, yet here we are…

Last month I read 50 books*!
*counting novellas and graphic novels

My reading amount continues to drop, but that is probably for the best!

Here are the top 8 books I read this month:

A Prince on Paper (Reluctant Royals, #3)Trying To Live With The Dead (The Veil Diaries, #1)War (The Four Horsemen, #2)White Trash Zombie Apocalypse (White Trash Zombie, #3)

Team Phison (Team Phison, #1)Spin the Dawn (The Blood of Stars, #1)A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Cursebreakers, #1)Origins (The Grimm Cases, #1)

Book Haul

A decent haul this month, although much smaller than last month 😄

When the Dead Come A Knockin' (The Veil Diaries, #2)When To Fear The Living (The Veil Diaries, #3)Whispers from the Dead (The Veil Diaries, #4)

When Evil Comes To Play (The Veil Diaries, #5)Secrets From the Grave (The Veil Diaries, #6)When The Dead Have It Easy (The Veil Diaries #7)

I started this series and couldn’t stop. Because I read the first one on KU I didn’t buy it, but I am planning on it sooner or later.

Reading Challenges/Goals Update

✔ Goodreads Reading Challenge

Currently surpassed my goal by 60%. I’m not increasing it, we will just see how far I actually go.

»Pop Sugar Reading Challenge

38/52! I’m happy with this, but soon I’m going to need specifically searching for books to fulfill prompts.

»Read More Childrens/Middle Grade books

No middle grade books this month, yet I have 2 out from the library currently…

»Read More Diverse Books

Didn’t do great here either. A few titles could count, but a few out of 50 is not good. I need to do better.

»Series TBR Takedown

Lol this is so dead.

»Take Time to NOT Read

Now that I live with a co-worker I have spent more time talking with people after work. I’ve also been trying to make time to watch Veronica Mars. I’m one season in, but choosing to NOT read is such a hard decision…

»Additional Monthly Goals….

I wanted to read 13 ARCs… I read like 3 🙄 so that didn’t happen…

BUT, I did get reviews written for books read in May and June!! 🎉🎉🎉
At one point my ‘to-be’reviewed’ shelf was down to 10!! I mean… it is at 26 now, but even this amount is the lowest it has been in… months. Perhaps since February or March–like so, so long ago.

Final Thoughts

While I have had quite a few 4 star reads this month, I don’t think they are super memorable, so that’s why my Top Reads are fewer this month. BUT, I’m having fun and honestly, that’s the reason I read, so I’m happy even if I’m not fulfilling challenges.

June ’19 Wrap Up

June continued on with me doing a ton of mood reading — but I did get some needed types of reading in as well as spent some time not reading, which has probably helped.

Last month I read 52 books*!

My reading amount continues to drop, but that is probably for the best! Continue reading “June ’19 Wrap Up”

May ’19 Wrap Up

May definitely ended up being a mood reading month if I’ve ever had one. I mean… wow. I couldn’t keep to a TBR and barely read anything actually off my TBR that I didn’t add a few days beforehand. And yet, I still got a ton of reading in.

Last month I read 54 books*!
*counting novellas and graphic novels

And while this is one book less than last month, my reading log shows I read 4 more than last month since it counts my DNF books… soooo I got a good chunk of reading in still, but had way more DNF books than usual.  Continue reading “May ’19 Wrap Up”
