It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a post to share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It is hosted by Kathryn at Bookdate.

Yes PleaseDarkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1)

Yes, Please is my current audiobook. Last night I started Darkhouse — I’m only one chapter in, but it wasn’t doing it for me. I’ll give it a bit longer to see what the hype is about.

This Week’s TBR List

I gotta be honest here, I’m exhausted. My A/C is out and of course it is the start of a heat wave, so I guess I didn’t sleep well. I don’t think today I’ll get much read even though I do have the day off. It is also making it difficult coming up with books to read this week…
Until the unit gets fixed I’m assuming I’ll be out of it, so I’m giving myself another easy week.

Here is what I’ve come up with:

Weight Expectations (Cipher Office, #1)Archer's VoiceMagical Intentions (Biomystic Security #1)A Ferry of Bones & Gold (Soulbound, #1)

  • Weight Expectations by M.E. Carter
I need to get working on Smartypants Romance books. They are popping up and being published like crazy!
  • Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan
I’ve been waiting to read this one until the perfect time. Well, this might be it. I want to feel all the emotions.
  • Magical Intentions by Jaliza A. Burwell
Tech & magic working together sounds like something I’m ready to read about.
  • A Ferry of Bones & Gold by Hailey Turner
While there are mixed reviews on this one, I keep running into it.

Leo Loves Aries (Signs of Love, #1)Forged by Desire (London Steampunk, #4)Not Your Idol, Vol. 1Seven Sins of Snow

  • Leo Loves Aries by Anyta Sunday
I need some cuteness this week.
  • Forged by Desire by Bec McMaster
I keep putting this book off, but it is a buddy read I agreed to…
  • Not Your Idol, vol. 1 by Aoi Makino
An ARC and graphic novel I do really want to read.
  • Seven Sins of Snow by Loxley Savage
Retelling of Snow White with the 7 sins…. sounds dark and bloody and I’m kinda feeling “why not?”

What are you reading this week?

Darkest Night (Sons of Broad #1)La Belle Sauvage (The Book of Dust, #1)Married with Zombies (Living with the Dead, #1)The Surface BreaksGreen Rider (Green Rider, #1)

Darkest Night by Tara Thomas
It isn’t at any of my libraries, so I’ll have to say no to this one.

La Belle Sauvage by Philip Pullman
Of course I’ll read this one! I mean… eventually…

Married With Zombies by Jesse Petersen
I heard this was a good audiobook, so I’ll keep it again. I also enjoy reading books about married couples and it sounds funny.

The Surface Breaks by Louise O’Neill
I’ve heard really good things about this book, even if I don’t see many reviews for it.

Green Rider by Kristen Britain
This sounds so magical and amazing! Why have I not read this one yet?

♛ The Highs ♛

I added… too many books this week. I’m actually in awe of how many I added. Over 60 books. How even?! I know some of these are because I entered giveaways, but yikes. I removed so, so many books, you have no idea and here I give you my top 10 adds from the week.

A Villain for ChristmasTrack the Sun (Night Traveler, #1)The Capital (The Knight and the Necromancer #1)Zoey Punches the Future in the Dick (Zoey Ashe, #2)They Called Us Enemy

  • A Villain for Christmas by Alice Winters
I have been loving the Alice Winters books I’ve been reading… this may be one of 4 of her books I added to my TBR this week. This one I’m saving from Christmas (maybe), but the others I might be devouring soon.
  • Track the Sun by Becca Andre
She’s an animal trainer, but she has magic and is hiding from a shaman. Verra interesting.
  • The Knight & The Necromancer by A.H. Lee
    Potentially enemies to lovers???
  • Zoey Punches the Future in the Dick by David Wong
The sequel I forgot I was waiting for, but am now totally hyped about!!
  • They Called Us Enemy by George Takei
I thought this was on my TBR already…. anyhow, planning on reading this super soon.

Our Dreams at Dusk: Shimanami Tasogare, Vol. 2Home Before DarkWill & Patrick Wake Up Married serial, Episodes 1 - 6: Wake Up Married / Meet the Family Do the Holidays / Fight Their Feelings / Meet the Mob / Happy EndingFailed Princesses Vol. 1Unmasked by the Marquess (Regency Imposters, #1)

  • Our Dreams at Dusk, vol. 2 by Yuhki Kamatani
The first volume was so good!
  • Home Before Dark by Riley Sager
The one book I read by this author was good and this one sounds creepily good.
  • Will & Patrick Wake Up Married by Leta Blake & Alice Griffiths
    This one sounds absolutely adorable.
  • Failed Princesses, vol. 1 by Ajiichi
Gosh this is another adorable sounding one that I hope is full of love, hope, and cuteness.
  • Unmasked by the Marquess by Cat Sebastian
I keep telling myself I’m going to read this author — I don’t even know how many books of hers I have on my TBR. Also, I don’t know if I’ve read a book with a nonbinary character before so, wow this would be new for me.

TBR TOTAL: 1085
Last week my total was 1060, honestly I’d be more “how is this possible” had I not just brought my total DOWN from 1100+ going through them for my Highs.

So, I’m really glad I go through my TBR every week to clean up books that I added on whims.

What’s new on your TBR you’re excited to read?

I’ve got quite a few books going right now…

Clap When You LandA Shifter's Curse (Rouen Chronicles, #1)Where the Devil Says Goodnight (Folk Lore, #1)Elven Doom (Death Before Dragons, #4)

  • Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo — My audiobook
  • A Shifter’s Curse by Raven Steele & Ava Mason — Buddy read I’m reading in chunks.
  • Where the Devil Says Goodnight by K.A. Merikan — A bit dark & sad, so another one I’m reading a little at a time.
  • Elven Doom by Lindsay Buroker — My main book. It is hilarious and lovely and I’m almost done with it which is making me sad…

Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1)The Supernatural EnhancementsThe Turn: The Hollows Begins with Death (The Hollows #0)I Wish for YouVacant (Mindspace Investigations, #4)

 Darkhouse by Karina Halle
I’m not usually a fan of horror… anymore. This one though, sounds like a lighter horror and it is on KU, so I’m still interested. In fact, I think I’ll borrow it now.

The Supernatural Enchancements by Edgar Cantero
This book still sounds very interesting. I might also be group reading it soon…

The Turn by Kim Harrison
I swear I’ll read this eventually. I’m supposed to be re-reading the series, so maybe this time I’ll start with this one instead of Dead Witch Walking

I Wish For You by Camilla Isley
Women’s fic doesn’t always interest me and this one really isn’t doing it for me anymore.

Vacant by Alex Hughes
I’m keeping this on my TBR because I don’t want to forget about this series. I can only hope one day the series will continue, for now I don’t want to read this one yet, because ugh cliffhangers, you know?  Continue reading “TBR Lows & Highs 83”

Phoenix Unbound (Fallen Empire, #1)Pirate Nemesis (Telepathic Space Pirates #1)

I’m 70% into my reread of Phoenix Unbound — I wanted to read it before Dragon Unleashed, so hopefully I’ll get to that one this week. I’m making steady progress with Pirate Nemesis. It is interesting, but not something I like listening to when I’m distracted.

Hostile Witness (Witness, #1)The Forest QueenThese Rebel Waves (Stream Raiders, #1)Blood Stained Tea (The Yakuza Path, #1)The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air, #2)

Hostile Witness by Rebecca Forster
I grabbed this one free from Amazon a few years back. The thing is, I’m not a huge fan of legal thrillers, so I’ll pass on this one.

The Forest Queen by Betsy Cornwell
As much as I like Robin Hood, I tend to not like retellings of the legend. I’ll pass on this one rather than let my heart die a little more…

These Rebel Waves by Sara Raasch
I see too many negative reviews by friends that I generally trust. This one probably isn’t for me.

Blood Stained Tea by Amy Tasukada
I’m not ready to say I won’t read this one. I’m actually quite interested–I think I forgot what it was about because had I remembered it dealt with the Yakuza and Korean organized crime with a m/m love story woven in, I probably would have read it sooner.

The Wicked King by Holly Black
Yeah…. how have I not read this one yet???  Continue reading “TBR Lows & Highs #82”
