Hello friends!
I’ve been seeing this challenge around and been thinking it looked fun, but I haven’t been in a good place to really try it out. Now I’m slowing down on my reading and taking more breaks (yay!) I have more time to blog. I’ve noticed that while I’m super excited to read some books I push them off because a. I’m worried it won’t live up to the hype (internal or external) or b. I’m waiting for the “right” mindset/emotional headspace to read it… aka I’m worried about the self-hype and waiting until I forget it.
Therefore, this challenge which forces you to try books out is exactly what I need!
A quick recap of what this challenge is… the Try a Chapter Challenge is one that started on Youtube (I believe) where the person reads the first chapter of five different books and chooses one of those books to read ASAP, based on the results. Some people also use this challenge to unhaul books as well.
Sometimes I just need a kick in the pants — I start reading and I’m good, it’s the build up and waiting that make it worse, I just need to get myself started! So, I’m hoping by giving myself a taste of these books I’ll be more willing to read them sooner. Of course, I’m also allowing myself to remove books from my TBR if after one chapter I realize I’m so not into them.
Phew~ That’s a lot of information! Hopefully I can do this challenge once or twice a month– I’m thinking I’ll do it every time I finish the book I pick.

Hello friends!

I have more time to blog. Although, the amount of ARCs I have backed up is truly stressing me out. I have 30+ ARCs that I need to read that are past their publication date– I know this isn’t as much as some people, but some of these are pushing the year mark…
That’s when it hit me.
Why not use this challenge to help me with my ARCs?!

July was a month of change for me. I moved (just 20 minutes away, but still) and Summer Reading still proves to be keeping me worn out at work, so this is another month of mostly mood reads. I never thought I’d use Kindle Unlimited so much, yet here we are…
Last month I read 50 books*!
*counting novellas and graphic novels
My reading amount continues to drop, but that is probably for the best!
A decent haul this month, although much smaller than last month 😄
I started this series and couldn’t stop. Because I read the first one on KU I didn’t buy it, but I am planning on it sooner or later.
Currently surpassed my goal by 60%. I’m not increasing it, we will just see how far I actually go.
38/52! I’m happy with this, but soon I’m going to need specifically searching for books to fulfill prompts.
No middle grade books this month, yet I have 2 out from the library currently…
Didn’t do great here either. A few titles could count, but a few out of 50 is not good. I need to do better.
Lol this is so dead.
Now that I live with a co-worker I have spent more time talking with people after work. I’ve also been trying to make time to watch Veronica Mars. I’m one season in, but choosing to NOT read is such a hard decision…
I wanted to read 13 ARCs… I read like 3 🙄 so that didn’t happen…
BUT, I did get reviews written for books read in May and June!! 🎉🎉🎉
At one point my ‘to-be’reviewed’ shelf was down to 10!! I mean… it is at 26 now, but even this amount is the lowest it has been in… months. Perhaps since February or March–like so, so long ago.
While I have had quite a few 4 star reads this month, I don’t think they are super memorable, so that’s why my Top Reads are fewer this month. BUT, I’m having fun and honestly, that’s the reason I read, so I’m happy even if I’m not fulfilling challenges.

With the year [ almost ] halfway over, I thought I’d share some of the great books I’ve read this year! Considering I’ve already read over 300 books I figure I’ve read way more than enough to write up one of these lists, especially for this blog’s focus: Romance.
I’ve been reading a TON of romance this year. In fact, according to my reading tracker over 50% of my reading has been romance or paranormal romance. So, this list was difficult to narrow down. Seriously! When first going through my books I had almost 10 top romances JUST FROM JANUARY!! Which is why this top ten list is now a Top 20 list.
…don’t judge me too harshly.
Before I share my list, I want to clarify that these aren’t all new books, just ones I’ve read between the beginning of January and the middle of June.

Today’s list is on Graphic Novels! I adore graphic novels, but have been neglecting them over the past few years. This year I’ve been trying to read more of them, and specifically more Middle Grade ones since that is the age group I talk to the most at work.
