Sunday Post 9/27/20

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blogs.

So, I didn’t set a Weekly TBR because I had no idea what even I wanted to read this week. It has been…strange.

Anonymous Noise, Vol. 10A Sign of Affection, Vol. 1That Wolf-Boy is Mine! Vol. 1The Water Dragon's Bride, Vol. 1 (The Water Dragon's Bride)Don't Rush Me (Nora Jacobs #1)

  • Anonymous Noise, Volumes 10 – 18 by Ryoko Fukuyama 💥
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – I finished and I’m so glad I kept on it! I complained about the angsty romance the entire time I read it only to get to the end and realize along with the main characters that it isn’t about the romance… it is about growing up and coming into ourselves. UGH SO GOOD!
  • A Sign of Affection volumes 1 and 2 by Suu Morishita 💥🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 – Yes this series so far is on KU! It also features a deaf main character — a first in manga for me. It is sweet and I can’t wait to see where it will go.
  • That Wolf-Boy is Mine!, Vol. 1 by Yoko Nogiri 💥🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Another KU book although the rest of the series is not 😢.
  • The Water Dragon’s Bride, Vol. 1 by Rei Toma 💥
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – SO GOOD! I’m dying to get my hands on the next books.
  • Nora Jacobs series by Jackie May 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – For the most part I really loved this series. So much, I even started reading other books by these authors haha.

My Soul to KeepThe Devil to Pay (Shayne Davies, #1)Magic in Those Eyes (Shayne Davies, #2)The Hitman's Guide to Tying the Knot Without Getting Shot (The Hitman's Guide #3)Failed Princesses, Vol. 1

100 Cookies: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen, with Classic Cookies, Novel Treats, Brownies, Bars, and MoreCaged Kitten (All the Queen's Men)Fun Home: A Family TragicomicCold Shadows (Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper #2)

  • 100 Cookies by Sarah Kieffer 👑
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Totally wishing I had a bigger kitchen and baking supplies because O M G! I wanna make cookies hahaha.
  • Caged Kitten by Rhea Watson 🍰✌
⭐⭐⭐.5 – I had been waiting for this one for a long time and it was… okay. I’m not a huge fan of prison settings which might have effected it.
  • Fun Home by Alison Bechdel 💥👑🎮
⭐⭐⭐ – I can’t remember why this was recommended to me, I just remember it was. This was alright, I read it preparation for Banned Book Week.
  • Cold Shadows by J.L. Bryan ✌
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Creepy! Just what I wanted!! And I do think it was better than book 1, so I want to keep reading… of course book 3 isn’t available at my library NOR on KU… although book 4 and on is on KU *sigh* 99 cents… maybe I’ll break down and get it.

I’ve gotta be honest here, I totally forgot about my TBR after Tuesday hahaha.

  • The City Between #3-6.5 by W.R. Gingell 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – I’m caught up and so very, very sad. This series is amazing. I did also read the two novellas.
  • Spy x Family, vol. 1 by Tatsuya Endo 💥🐲🤞
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – I wanted to make sure this wouldn’t be too graphic for my teens I buy books for, instead I was trying ridiculously hard not to laugh while working. Love this book.
  • Beyond the Sea by L.H. Cosway 🍰🤞
    ⭐⭐⭐ – I really don’t think this author and I mesh, unfortunately.
  • When She Purrs by Ruby Dixon 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – I didn’t even realize this was combined into a book already, so when I saw it on my recommended list on the Kindle App and grabbed it immediately and started reading.

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Adorkable
  • The Vampire’s Club #1-5 by X. Aratare 🌱🍰🌈
⭐⭐⭐ – I gave up on this series after 5. I went from curious to pushing myself to figuring out the ending.
  • Wrecking Ball by P. Dangelico 💰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ — I was so, so close to loving this one, but that ending….
  • Within in the Mind by Alice Winters 🍰🌈
⭐⭐⭐ – This was not what I expected and a little to creepy, nightmare-ish, for my tastes.
  • Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan 🌈
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 – A re-read! I started Ruthless Gods and realized I had forgotten so, so much, so I paused it and read this one.

»Did Not Finish

American Gods (American Gods, #1)Elemental Fae Academy: Book Three (Elemental Fae Academy #3)

6.5 hours in and I’m no longer interested in American Gods 🎧🐾. It is meandering and has so many storylines I couldn’t keep up. I see why people like it,  but it isn’t for me. Elemental Fae Academy: Book Three yeah I gave up on the last book in the series, but come ooooon! It was pretty much just sex, sex, sex and little story, which isn’t my jam.

SpellhackerMenagerie (Menagerie, #1)Ruthless Gods (Something Dark and Holy, #2)Sapphire Flames (Hidden Legacy, #4)

Spellhacker🎧 is my current audiobook — I’ve only made a little progress though as I wasn’t super interested in listening to audiobooks this week. Menagerie 🐾 is a group read that I am not in the mood for right now. I read one chapter and went N. O.
I have yet to pick Ruthless Gods 🐲back up after finishing Wicked Saints , but after the dark and monstrous I needed something lighter and would make me laugh…. which somehow translated into me picking up Sapphire Flames …. so that I can read Emerald Blaze 🐲 soon.

lol all fantasy but all very different types of fantasy.

Other News

Books: While I didn’t do great with my TBR, I’m glad I read those graphic novels and I’m setting myself up nicely to get a few review copies read this week.

Watched: Really didn’t watch too much TV this week, but for date night we watched Murder Mystery– which had I been watching alone I would have turned off at the beginning because it hurt, but I ended up liking the movie in the end.

Games???

I saw Ooblets is getting closer to a release date– I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

BUT, this also means I now am wanting to play games with only my iPad at my disposal (do I have a laptop, yes, will it play games…. no). So, I ran through a few random ones and finally fell into Final Fantasy Mobius or whatever it is called. I’ve been reading until I feel like gaming, then I switch to the game until I’m bored of it, then back to reading, –repeat.

What am I listening to?

Surprisingly, I’m mostly listening to K-pop. I tend towards pop in the summer, so I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised, but it is definitely fun to listen to old favorites. When Nalina came on while I was driving I remembered how I’d rock out while commuting to school and well…. I had a blast dance-driving. ^_^

Today

The fact that I was able to sleep instead of binge-read Sapphire Flames is impressive and me writing up this post instead of continuing to devour it? Astounding. So, my plan is to read that and Emerald Blaze. Then I’ll probably cry because the third book isn’t out yet end up in a book hangover, so I have no idea what I’ll read next.

Sapphire Flames (Hidden Legacy, #4)Emerald Blaze (Hidden Legacy, #5)

Seriously, trying to plan anything after these would be silly because I know I won’t stick with it…

What are you doing on this lovely Sunday?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a post to share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It is hosted by Kathryn at Bookdate.

Currently Reading

Phoenix Unbound (Fallen Empire, #1)Pirate Nemesis (Telepathic Space Pirates #1)

I’m 70% into my reread of Phoenix Unbound — I wanted to read it before Dragon Unleashed, so hopefully I’ll get to that one this week. I’m making steady progress with Pirate Nemesis. It is interesting, but not something I like listening to when I’m distracted.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a post to share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It is hosted by Kathryn at Bookdate.

This month I’ve been doing great with reading off my Weekly TBR. If I read 2 books from it I’m okay, but 3? I’m super happy. Last week I read 6 out of 8!! I’m so floored!

Let’s see if I can keep this up!

Sunday Post 12/29/19

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blogs.

Here we are at the last Sunday in 2019…. surreal.

Image result for knight before christmasWhat did I even do this past week? hahaha.

Non-reading:

Okay, so Christmas Eve I watched The Knight Before Christmas — one of the shows I wanted to watched this Christmas time. Friends, I’ve remembered why I don’t watch Christmas movies. This was… not great.

There was Christmas! I spent a few hours hanging out with my fiance: opening presents, cooking, etc.

Throughout the week I’ve been watching Bob’s Burgers. I love this show and laugh every time I watch it. Adding some TV watching to has helped me keep reading from getting stale.

I’ve also been doing some MAJOR apartment hunting online. We’ve narrowed our options down and need to have talks on if we’re willing to do an apartment again without seeing it for ourselves…. Moving states is difficult.

On a positive note, I’ve been doing really well with my blogging! My “needs review” pile is under 60 — I’m into Novembers books 💃🏻🎉🥳 yeah, I’m feeling good!

Oh! I also fit in a few hours to play Skyrim! Maybe I’ll play some more later… Just need to find a time when the fiance is gone/asleep so I can use his computer AND I’m not in the mood to read haha.

Alrighty, time to get to the books! Continue reading “Sunday Post 12/29/19”

My 2020 Goals & Resolutions

Hey all! 😎

I wanted to share my goals and resolutions for next year. Here’s the thing, I usually don’t set life resolutions– I just let them drop, but this time around I think I’ll be trying to also write them down and place them somewhere I’ll notice them often. My life needs a positive change this year. And as for reading goals/challenges… well, I dropped them in 2019. I think I made a few too specific, put too much stress on doing too much, and I’m also blaming my lifestyle for losing my motivation to work on the goals — I’ll do a wrap up of my 2019 challenges in another post.

Books I Wish Were Under My Tree

Merry Christmas, y’all!

I hope everything is going well for you all, or that you can leave your judgmental family members behind soon.

For my last day of Blogmas I will share the top 8 books/series I wish were under my tree– 4 re-reads and 4 I’ve yet to read.
Since my fiance and I aren’t exchanging gifts this year, this is more of a wishlist ^_^
