✅ Kindling the Moon by Jenn Bennett
Thankfully, my library has a physical copy of this one, so I’ll keep it on my TBR. It sounds so fun. Eventually I’ll pick this one up.

❌ Over Raging Tides by Jennifer Ellision
This one, unfortunately, isn’t available T_T, so I’ll be removing it for now. 

✅ The Brightsiders by Jen Wilde
I did like Queens of Geek so I plan on reading this one… eventually. 

❌ The Girl King by Mimi Yu
With a DNF from Destiny, I know I’ll probably end up not liking this one. It is so rare that our star ratings for YA materials differ extremely. 

✅ The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin
Eventually I swear I’ll read this one!! It sounds so magical and amazing.

✅ Children of Virtue and Vengence by Tomi Adeyemi
I loved the first book! I’m waiting to continue until the third book drops, that way I can binge instead of trying to remember things.

❌ Black Wings Beating by Alex London
As much as I love the cover, this time around when I read the synopsis I wasn’t actually interested. It seems okay, but not something I’m into–unless it is recommended to me, that might be the only push I need.

✅ The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
Bruh, I’m getting like dark, grown-up Tamora Pierce-vibes here and I’m loving it. Yes, I know nothing about this is like Tortall or Alanna, but… something about it is clicking for me.

✅ Faerie by Delle Jacobs
A standalone fantasy novel that was recommended to me OH and it is on KU– let me just download that now~

✅ Charming by Elliott James
This is another fantasy recommendation for me. It sounds outstanding, I just tend to be hesitant about books written by guys…. I shouldn’t, I know, but… yeah.

✅The Queen’s Resistance by Rebecca Ross
I remember really wanting to read this, but then had to wait for it to come out… I’m so bad at finishing series…. Anyhow, I’ll keep it for now.

✅The Stepsister Scheme by Jim C. Hines 
This one was recommended to me. Fairy tale characters as Charlie’s Angels -esque characters… yeah I’m interested. I’ll get to this eventually. 

✅Rogue Heart by Axie Oh 
I really liked Rebel Seoul and think it doesn’t get enough hype. So, heck yes I want to read this companion novel.

✅ Soul of Stars by Ashley Poston
Man, I loved Heart of Iron…. How have I not finished this series??? 

✅Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean
A standlone YA novel! It involves fighting for the crown, hidden yokai identities, and a prince who doesn’t want to rule. Again, how have I not read this yet?? 

I swear that has been the theme for this week’s books. How haven’t I read these yet?!

✅ And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
I am a huge fan of classic mysteries and even more so for these tropes: locked room, dinner parties, “one of us is the killer,” and a others, so this book hits so many of my buttons ^_^ I read a few Agatha Christie back in the day, but can’t remember which. I’d love to read more by her. 

✅Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep 
This was a harder choice… it sounds okay, perhaps I’d like it, but I’m not a huge fan of the Elemental Assassin series. All my friends who’ve read this have liked it though, so I’ll keep it around for a rainy day. 

❌The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green 
This is one I keep adding and removing from my TBR which I think says it all. It sounds interesting, but I’m reading a lot of mixed reviews on it. 

❌Picture Us in the Light by Kelly Loy Gilbert
This is one I think I added for the LGBT rep, but I think I’m doing good on having enough of those books on my TBR that I actually want to read, that I don’t need to keep one I’m not totally interested in. 

✅Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan
This is another one I’m seeing tons of mixed reviews for from my friends, but it sounds so good that I still want to read it.

❌ Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck
Oof, I’m seeing reviews calling this one racist with white savior syndrome, so I’ll forget about this one. 

❌The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex 
While I’m sure this is hilarious, I rarely ever pick up Middle Grade…

❌The Murder of Bindy Mackenzie by Jaclyn Moriarty 
This was recommend to me by a teen I was working with at the time, buuuuttt I’m not interested and I don’t see them anymore, so I guess I’ll pass on this one. 

❌The Beauty That Remains by Ashley Woodfolk
This sounds like a gorgeously beautiful book, but possibly too sad for me. I tend to never pick up these kinds of books… 

❌The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan
Another super emotional book that I don’t know if I’ll ever be in the right mindset to read.

A UF series I DO plan on getting to– for some reason I thought it was ongoing, but knowing it is finished has me more eager to start it.

❌Last Year’s Mistake by Gina Ciocca
Ehhhhh could be great, but I’m not a huge fan of second chance romances.

✅Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer
I do plan on reading this. Now that it is completed I think I’m ready to try it out.

❌The Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas
I still need to read book 3! So, this one is off the list until then.

❌Ever After by Riley Hart & Christina Lee
I don’t think I’m a huge fan of Riley Hart annnnd I’m not too sure of the synopsis, so think I’ll pass.

✅The Duke’s Tattoo by Miranda Davis
The Duke is kidnapped and tattooed by the heroine — in a case of mistaken identity. Whoops! Haha, it sounds funny and I’d like to see where it goes. 

❌An Uncertain Choice by Jody Redlund
Think I’ll pass on this one since it seems like things will happen easily and predictably. 

✅Wicked Fox by Kat Cho
The only one NOT historical this week haha and I do really want to read it. I’ve enjoyed the Gumiho myth ever since watching My Girlfriend is a 9-tailed fox. 

❌Once Upon a Moonlit Path by Ava Stone 
While this sounds amazingly interesting (he’s chasing her and she sees ghosts???) I didn’t DL in time on Netgalley and I can’t find it at my library 😕

❌Notorious Pleasures by Elizabeth Hoyt
This was a difficult choice, buuuuutttt the more reviews I read (positive mostly because I can’t find many negative), I just don’t think it is for me. So many people like it and it has the potential for me to love it, but I’m worried there is cheating and that instantly makes me hate books.

❌Red Sword by Michael Wallace 
There is an assassin, a barbarian warrior, and a dead wizard — oh and a necromancer on the horizon that our apprentice wizard must deal with. I mean… I see how it could be great, but I’m not feeling it. 

✅Blood Heir by Amélie Wen Zhao
How have I not read this book yet!!! 

❌The Squire’s Tale by Gerald Morris 
I think I would have loved it if I read it years ago, but these days I’m not so interested in Arthurian legends. 

✅Killing Floor by Lee Child
My dad and stepmom love this series. I told them I’d give it a try… 2 years ago. lol hopefully I’ll pick it up this year… 

✅Hocus Pocus & The All New Sequel by A.W. Jantha
I swear one Halloween I WILL read this…
