Sunday Post 8/2/2020

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blogs.

I had a pretty decent reading week!

Barbarian's Touch (Ice Planet Barbarians, #7)Grave Signs (Hellgate Guardians, #4)Check, Please!, Book 2: Sticks & SconesOf Silk and Steam (London Steampunk, #5)Hedwig and the Angry Inch

  • Ice Planet Barbarian’s #7-8 by Ruby Dixon 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Because every once in a while I need some Ruby Dixon in my life.
  • Grave Signs by Ivy Asher & Raven Kennedy 🍰🤞
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Then I finished Hellgate Guardian series. A good, fun series.
  • Check, Please! Book 2: Sticks and Scones by Ngozi Ukazu 💥🤞🌈
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – So good! I love this duology soooooo much. Ugh, it had me so emotional at the end.
  • Of Silk and Steam by Bec McMaster 🤞🐾
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 – I’m very glad I continued this series to the end. I will read the spin-off, but I’ll give it a few months before starting.
  • Hedwig and the Angry Inch by John Cameron Mitchell 🌈👑
⭐⭐⭐ – I read this for the Read Harder Challenge. It is decent… I probably didn’t fully understand everything that makes it great.

How to Lure a Hunter (VRC: Vampire Related Crimes #3)Wicked Gods (Gifted Academy, #1)Ruthless Idols (Gifted Academy #2)Space Age: Houston, Prepare to Launch (Space #1)The Fell of Dark

  • How to Lure a Hunter by Alice Winters 🍰🤞
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – This series continues to be hilarious!
  • Wicked Gods & Ruthless Idols by Michelle Hercules 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – A random pick by me and I’m really liking this series. I thought it was completed…. but it isn’t, so I’m taking a little break from it.
  • Space Age: Prepare to Launch by Sara L. Hudson 🍰🌱
⭐⭐⭐ – Eh, this was okay. I felt like she just never listened to him and was super judgey.
  • The Fell of Dark by Caleb Roehrig 🤞🌈🐲
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Definitely not what I was expecting — much more intense, but so good.

End Game (The Foundling, #5)Phantom of the Library (Paranormal House Flippers, #3)Mist and Magic (Death Before Dragons #0.5)Conspiracy (The Emperor's Edge, #4)

  • End Game by Hailey Edwards 🐾🤞
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Another series completed. This ending did drag for me, but I enjoyed the series overall.
  • Phantom of the Library by Lidiya Foxglove 🍰🐾
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – I meant to put this one on my Weekly TBR as well, but mixed it up with another book — whoops! Anyhow, this was a fun series that was magic and house renovations!
  • Mist and Magic by Lindsay Buroker 🍰🤞🌱
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – a prequel novella. Not as funny as the other books, much more real and shows why Val pushed people away.
  • Conspiracy by Lindsay Buroker 🤞
⭐⭐⭐.5 – This series… I loved the beginning, but it is slowly waning. It has great lines and I love the story, but it feels long and I hate how there is still no trust between the crew.

»Did Not Finish

Hecate's Gift (Challenge of the Gods, #1)Jack (For The Love Of A Good Woman, #1)

Hecate’s Gift 🍰🐾 has a great concept, could be great, but the writing let it down and… ugh. I stopped at 20%. Jack 🍰🤞 I stopped quite quickly because I wasn’t liking the writing style and then read some reviews to see what was up and realized I wasn’t going to like where the plot was going.

Aphrodite Made Me Do It

I’m currently 30% into Aphrodite Made Me Do It which I picked up because I want to read more poetry.

General News

Books: 7 books out of 10 off my weekly TBR! That is really grand. AND I finished 5 series. Finally finishing series is so nice considering I have a bad habit of starting them and reading up to the last book -_-“
With Conspiracy read, I also have my library books under control. I only have 1 loan, but there are soooo many I want to buddy read, that I’m trying not to overwhelm myself.

Reviews: Did not do great. I’m back up to 150. 15 added to it *sigh*.  I’m forgiving myself here though because it was the end of the month and I was writing other posts.

Watched: Rewatched some Fluffy~ I don’t want too much stand up, but Gabriel Iglesias is phenomenal.

What am I listening to?

Nothing new, just my usual pop punk stuff and some a capella/acoustic music in the mornings.

Sundays are so weird. Recently I haven’t known what to read just kind of… blah, on Sundays. These are the books sticking out to me the most though after almost an hour of looking at my TBR…

Draekon Warrior (Rebel Force, #1)Scalding Hot Chocolate (Adulting Not Allowed, #1)Resurrection (The Sainthood - Boys of Lowell High #1)The Change (Unbounded, #1)

Am I feelings silly (Scalding Hot Chocolate), feeling like reading something darker (Resurrection), or something out of this world (Draekon Warrior)??? Or maybe I’ll go with The Change which I found when randomly clicking books on my TBR.

I’m not sure which I’ll pick since my mood could go in any direction, but we will see!

What are you doing on this lovely Sunday?
