Sunday Post 3/1/20

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blogs.

Reading, reading, reading~ I’m getting back in the groove and also being productive at the same time. Watch me go, folks!

Also, can you believe it is March 1st???? Wow…

Whelp, I didn’t actually make a weekly TBR last week. I was feeling blah about reading. I think it worked well for me though and I ended up reading a ton of graphic novels!

Close Quarter (Close Quarter, #1)Beauty in Autumn (Beauty, #3)BEASTARS, Vol. 3BEASTARS, Vol. 4The Devil's Bride

  • Close Quarter by Anna Zabo 🌈🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – This was fun and an interesting look at the Fae. Also it takes 100% on a ship in case you need that for a challenge.
  • Beauty in Autumn by Ruby Dixon 🌱
⭐⭐⭐.5 – Last Ruby Dixon for the month. I was on a roll with her last weekend, but ended on a meh note 😕
  • Beastarsvol. 3 and 4 by Paru Itagaki 💥
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – I’m LOVING this series. Yes, it is weird to read about animals like this (especially since my fiance mentioned furries), but the predators v. prey mentality and trying to fight against your nature plot lines are so interesting.
  • The Devil’s Bride by Emma S. Jackson 🍰
⭐⭐⭐ – This wasn’t what I was expecting… I was also thinking it was a standalone, so finding out it differently was a bit of a letdown.

A Call To Pride (Unsung Veil, #1)The Bloodwood Academy Shifter: Semester One (The Bloodwood Academy #1)Moonshine Kiss (Bootleg Springs #3)Bitter Falls (Stillhouse Lake #4)Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4)

  • A Call to Pride by Poppy Woods 🍰
  • The Bloodwood Academy: Semester One by Rae Foxx 🍰
  • Moonshine Kiss by Lucy Score & Claire Kingsley 🍰👑
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Slowly making progress on this series. I’m glad I stuck with it.
  • Bitter Falls by Rachel Caine 🍰✌👑🎧
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Okay, I listed to like 20 minutes, but I’m still counting it as audio too. This series though…. amazing. Such an adrenaline rush.
  • Lover Revealed by J.R. Ward
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Started out as a series buddy read, but I’m now two books ahead haha. I’m enjoying this re-read.

Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku, Vol. 1The Fox & the Little Tanuki, Vol. 1Sera and the Royal Stars, Vol. 1The Way of the Househusband, Vol. 1Prince Freya (#1)

  • Hell’s Paradise 1 by Yuji Kaku 🐲💥
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 – An unexpected delight. I’m really looking forward to the next one.
  • The Fox & The Tanuki 1 by Mi Tagawa 🐲💥
    ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 — SO CUTE!!
  • Sera and the Royal Stars, vol. 1 by Jon Tsuei 🐲💥
⭐⭐.5 — Not bad, but not great. Didn’t hold my attention like the others I read. Probably not fair I read all these graphic novels on the same day.
  • The Way of the Househusband 1 by Kousuke Oono 🐲💥
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – I ADORE THIS! Wow this was so funny.
  • Prince Freya 1 by Keiko Ishihara 🐲💥
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – A little more bloody than I thought it would be, I’m here for this kind of realistic violence in Shoujo manga. So excited to see where this will lead.

Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with MeVicious Tease (Vicious City #0.5)Mate DateThe Dead Ringer (A Standalone Reverse Harem Romance)

  • Laura Dead Keeps Breaking Up With Me by Mariko Tamaki 💥
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – This was an important read. A good book with a good message.
  • Vicious Tease by Loki Renard 🌱
⭐⭐⭐ – While I liked this prologue to the series, I don’t think I’ll like where it goes, so I won’t be continuing 😞
  • Mate Date by M.J. Marstens 🍰
  • Dead Ringer by Michaela Haze 🍰
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 – Minus half a star for repetitiveness and the flip flopping, but honestly, I was hooked and loved every minute of this book.

I know it seems like a ton of books I read, but really the numbers are boosted because of all those graphic novels.

»Did Not Finish

The Raven and the Dove (The Raven and the Dove, #1)On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness

UGH I really wanted to like The Raven and The Dove , but just couldn’t get over details that didn’t make sense. And with On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness I realized immediately that it was a humor book that wasn’t to my taste.

»Currently Reading

Nada~ I finished Dead Ringer last night and haven’t decided what I want to read next…

Other News

Books: Library pile is still looking good and actually worked on some Review Copies. Woot Woot! Things are looking up!

Watched: Still slowly working through Bob’s Burgers. I did try Community, but still wasn’t interested after 2 episodes. I might try Blind Love today because I’ve been hearing good things.

Reviews: I started to review some things! November reviews are done and I’m under 100 again! Yeah… that’s how bad this pile up has gotten. UGH I have about 10 review copies that need reviews still…

What am I listening to?

While I’m still on a Pop Punk kick for my commute, I’ve been listening to the Frozen II & Aladdin soundtracks while I’m a work. Also threw in some Hamilton too, because why not?
I did do one day of Audiobook, but eh didn’t work. Music I don’t need to pay attention to, a book I do…

Other: Ate out only once this week, so nice~ Today has actually been my day of productivity. It is almost 11AM (as I’m writing this) and I’ve already started dinner in the slow cooker, went to the store, folded laundry (from last week, whoops!) and am in the middle of cleaning laundry. I’ll try to do a few blog posts and then probably call it done.
I need to get better at spreading out chores and big to-do items throughout the week.

Red CityEchoes of the Past (The Alina Chronicles Book 1)Three Mages and a Margarita (The Guild Codex: Spellbound, #1)

I’m not done with Michaela Haze and I really want to try something else, so I’ll probably start Red City next. Echoes of the Past popped up on my GR feed though and that one looks good too… and then of course I’ve been feeling like reading more Annette Marie and wouldn’t you know it Three Mages and a Margarita is the start of a long series.

So lots of good, fun, books to read. The hardest part is deciding which to start with!

What are you doing on this lovely Sunday?
