TBR Lows & Highs #63

It’s Friday! Time for my favorite post of the week!! (and apparently the only one I’m consistent with…)

Rules:

  • Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
  • Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
  • Find 5-10 (or more, if you feel ambitious!) titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”)
    • ALTERNATIVE OPTION: Find 5+ titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
  • Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
  • Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
  • List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)

✘✘✘ The Lows ✘✘✘

Still Life (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, #1)The Hunt for Atlantis (Nina Wilde & Eddie Chase, #1)PreyDéjà Dead (Temperance Brennan, #1)The Face of Deception (Eve Duncan, #1)

✅ Still Life by Louise Penny
This sounds like a sweet, charming mystery and it has some acclaims behind it. I just put a hold on it — so hopefully I’ll actually read it before the end of the year.

❌ The Hunt for Atlantis by Andy McDermott
This one (like the others on this list) I added because I read good things about them in a book I read for class: Genreflecting. The thing is, as good as I’m sure it is, I just don’t think I’ll ever get to it. I completely forgot this was even on my list.

❌ Prey by Michael Crichton
I’m dropping this one for many of the same reasons as the book above, but I’m also really bad with sci-fi books. I do plan on reading more of his Jurassic Park books, but think I’ll pass on the other stuff unless I fall in love with the other books.

✅ Deja Dead by Katy Reichs
I watched Bones and enjoyed it although did tire of it eventually, so perhaps since I’ve heard the books are much different they will be able to hold my attention longer.

The Face of Deception by Iris Johansen
I swear my friends’ reviews are all over the place on this one. Think I’ll pass for now since I’m not completely pulled by it.

 The Highs

So many adds this week — I don’t even remember where I found most of these!

The Hidden Witch (The Coven: Academy Magic #1)The Swedish Prince (Royal Romance #1)Infernal Desires (Queen of the Damned, #3)Rose (Daylight's Crown #1)Date Me, Bryson Keller!

My Best Friend’s Royal WeddingIf You Give A Jerk A Gingerbread (Reindeer Falls, #2)Memories Forgotten (The Heart of Edarus Book 1)In the Unlikely EventThe Rakess (Society of Sirens, #1)

  • My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding by Romy Sommer
Did I already mention my love of contemporary royal romances?? Well, I like that this one seems to be a different play on the trope.
  • If You Give a Jerk a Gingerbread by Jana Aston
The first novella was so cute! I’m looking forward to this one a lot. I’ll probably pick it up next week.
  • Memories Forgotten by Aspen Marks
  • In the Unlikely Event by L.J. Shen
I don’t always enjoy this authors books, but when I do– I love them. This one sounds like one that will grip my heart and never let go. I’m excited to read it! SOON!
  • The Rakess by Scarlett Peckham
I’m so ready for this flip of the script!!

Deal with the Devil (Mercenary Librarians, #1)How to Catch a Queen (Runaway Royals, #1)The Rise of Monsters (Angelus, #1)The Late Great Wizard (Wayward Mages, #1)Live Fae or Die Trying (The Paranormal PI Files #1)

TBR TOTAL: 876 – 5 more than last week.
There are just so many good books coming out!! I can’t help the TBR increase ^_^
