What a week friends, what a week. This post might be late, buuuuttt it is one of my faves, so I’m still making time to fit it in. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do ^_^
Rules:
- Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
- Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
- Find 5-10 (or more, if you feel ambitious!) titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”)
- ALTERNATIVE OPTION: Find 5+ titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
- Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
- Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
- List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)

Welcome to the week of “oh yes I totally want to read all of these, just not right now.”
- Vicious by V.E. Schwab
I keep telling myself I’m going to read this one, but the fear of overhyping is so real. - Unwind by Neal Shusterman
I LOVED Scythe and this book has such great reviews and has won awards, so I do plan on giving this a try…eventually. - The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
Surprisingly, this one has mixed reviews from my GR friends, but wasn’t it made into a movie??? I definitely still want to give this series a try. - Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes
Honestly, I thought this was going to be another ‘will read eventually’ book, but I was no longer interested in the synopsis and the reviews I did read weren’t inspiring. I seem to not like Alice in Wonderland retellings when I do read them too… weird times. - The Sound of Us by Ashley Poston
I read the second book in this series, thanks to Netgalley. The first Ashley Poston book I read and I enjoyed it. I do want to read this one… so even though I can’t find it at my libraries, I’m keeping it on my list.

♛ The Highs ♛
So many pretty covers this week!
Anyhow, 12 adds this week. Still more than I’d like, but better than it has been.
- Code Name: Genesis by Sawyer Bennett
I believe this is one I found in PW??? but it is also by Sawyer Bennett who writes the Carolina Cold Fury series which I really enjoy. I’m really excited about this one. - Ravensong by TJ Klune
I read Wolfsong, loved it, so I had to add this to my TBR list. I’m so worried I’m overhyping it though which is why I have yet to start it. - The Lightning-Struck Heart by TJ Klune
Okay, go read the synopsis and tell me this doesn’t sound like a wild crazy ride. “Hornless gay unicorn”, ” a sexually aggressive dragon kidnaps the prince”, “Sir Ryan Foxheart, the dreamiest dream to have ever been dreamed.” — are you not interested enough to see what this book is about??? - Hyde and Seek by Layla Frost
I found this one thanks to Eleanor from Real Tasty Pages. It sounds cute, funny, and with a high rating by this amazing blogger, I know I’ll enjoy reading this one 😄 - Lock Every Door by Riley Sager
Where… where did I find this one? I’m assuming I got it from PW, but who is to say. I have been in a thriller addition mood — aka adding thrillers to my TBR, but not wanting to read them yet. I’m hoarding them for another time.
- A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
I’m shocked this wasn’t already on my TBR. I’ve been hearing good things about it lately and it stares at me every day at work, I swear…. - Touch of Regret by Autumn Reed
I think the cover pulled me in here, but I can’t deny that this line has me intrigued: “The day I truly started to live, I sentenced him to die” - Dedicated by Neve Wilder
This is one I found thanks to Kathy over at Pages Below the Vaulted Sky. And this is in the synopsis– “Dedicated is a 92k standalone bisexual friends-to-lovers romance that also plays on the fake relationship trope, contains a cockblocking greenhouse, really poor decisions involving social media, and a borderline over-the-top HEA.”
I mean… how was I supposed to not want to read this one. - The City of Lost Fortunes by Bryan Camp
Another thanks to Kathy! Did you see that cover?! Absolutely gorgeousThere are like 3 different covers and I love all of them. Content? I usually don’t read things revolving around the destruction of hurricane Katrina, but the gift to find lost things and a death of a God have made me want to try this one. - Hell’s Bell by Keri Arthur
Book 2 in the series. I like where this one is going and really want to learn more. I’m bummed the next book isn’t available — I have a hold on it, but if it was ready I would already be reading it.
- Moonlight Whispers by K.R. Alexander
Book 8 in the series… which I only started this week. It started out strong and I’ve been IN TO IT (obviously since I read 7 books from this series in one week), but there are some problematic things here. With three books left, I’m waiting until book 10 comes out to truly decide if I’m going to finish the series. I mean, 7 books deep and I do want to know what will happen, but…. wow. - BloodLust by Audryn Hadley
I read books by this author last week and loved them so much I decided I wanted to try out another series. This one seems to be the highest rated sooooo, yeah I’ll probably start this one soon.
TBR Total: 721 — 6 up from last week.
So, dreams of getting back under 700 are slowly dying.
Anything on my Lows you think I should have kept/removed?
Have you read or heard anything about the books in my Highs?
I loved A Curse So Dark and Lonely, hope you do 😁

Awww yay! Happy to have added two to your TBR pile! 😀 I’m on the same page with you for Vicious. I do want to try it but I’m worried that I’m subconsciously overhyping it in my head and I’ll end up disappointed. And ohboyohboy, Lightning Struck Heart is a trip and HALF! It’s one of my go-to books when I’m feeling down and need a good laugh.
