Hello, hello! I thought I would start doing Monthly Wrap-up’s again. This way I can keep track of how much I read, check in on my Reading Challenges, and share my favorite books of the month, so I have some idea for the end of the year ^_^
January has treated me right. This is the last winter break I’ll have. A moment of silence for that wonderful month of absolutely nothing
besides cleaning to do.
Yes, well I have officially started my last (hopefully!) semester of my Master’s program which is also a good thing. I’m actually read to move on from school and get myself a grown-up job…. I’ll start applying in March….
Anyhow, I took this Winter break to get a jump start on my reading and it went really well, even if I haven’t gotten to everything I wanted, and instead jumped off my designated TBR list.
I’ve read 51 books this month! I feel great about that number.
Here are the top books I read this month:
aka books I still think about or want to/have recommended
- The Burning Page & The Lost Plot by Genevieve Cogman
I couldn’t decide between these two books, #3 and #4 in the series, respectively. Absolutely excited to read the next book which I hope will come out in 2019….
- Hunted by Meagan Spooner
My audiobook for January and it was a magical ride 🙂
- The Hollows series by Kim Harrison
I read #1-12 this month! I only have one left… I wasn’t planning on reading it, but I couldn’t help myself.
- In Death series by J.D. Robb
I read #5-9 this month. This is a series I love to read in between other books. I can’t too many in a row, but I just really enjoy them.
- Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy
A group read which was as fun as I thought it would be!
- Clean by Alex Hughes
A recommendation which surprised me. I keep thinking about this one, so I hope to read the second one soon.
- Blood and Sand by C.V. Wyk
This Netgalley approval came at the right time. Didn’t think I’d like it as much as I did, but now it is one I’ve already recommended to 2 people.
- Watch Me by Jody Gehrman
Weird, creepy, yet made me think. This is one I want to recommend to more people.
- Warrior Wolf by Amy Green
This series is such a guilty pleasure of mine. I ended up buying the 4th/final book in the series, so I’ll read that soon.
- The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Honestly, this book was on the edge of meh for me until sh*t went down. Now, I’m dying for the next book, wishing I hadn’t read it so I wouldn’t feel this need for the next one…
- Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero
If you like Scooby Doo and H.P. Lovecraft elements, this is the book for you — this is me recommending it to you!
Yeah, I’m not good at picking a favorite book, but I narrowed it down some!!
Reading Challenges/Goals Update
»Goodreads Reading Challenge
Look at the sweet, sweet number ❤ I can’t believe I’m 1/4th of the way through! This will really help when I get busier towards the middle of the year 🙂
»Pop Sugar Reading Challenge
Currently sitting at 19/52 prompts done! All without actively picking books to read based off the prompts ^_^
Of course… this also means I’ve completed all the easy ones….
I’m doing the advanced version (extra 10 prompts), but I’m waiting to fill those until I complete the first 42 prompts! Trying to make it harder on myself 🙂
19 books is a few too maybe for me to share the entire list, but if you want to see my progress, you can check it out on my Google Sheet. I found this template on the GR group and was soooo thankfully the creator said we could use it.
»Read 12 audiobooks/one a month
January audiobook: Hunted by Meagon Spooner. Loved it!
1/12 ^_^ right on target
»Series TBR Takedown
Ah, my main challenge… I actually did pretty good with this, but um… I’m not reading in the order I originally planned.
Total Read: 15/54 27% completed
So, I’m doing real good. I wasn’t planning on reading The Hollows until April, buuuut oh well! I do need to finish TMI eventually though….
