This week’s topic: Books as Event Themes
— It’s party season, whether that is high school prom, weddings, or summer holiday events. What books would make a good party/event theme??
Harry Potter
There are tons of ideas online about how to throw Harry Potter parties and let me just say, the library does it fantastically. I’ve helped with an Interactive Harry Potter night and missed out on helping at the Yule Ball– which I heard was amazing, and yes that was a Harry potter themed dance party with so much extra fun stuff.
As for a party at home: make your own wand, dance, drink special potions ;), watch the movies, play quidditch (like beer pong), and even play trivia, this would be a great night.
Sailor Moon
Okay, if you haven’t seen the Sailor Moon wedding pictures, you are missing out. If I had the money, I would seriously considering doing it.
As for a normal party, I think this would be great for a study sleepover party, since the characters do study often. So study, watch the movies, chase of bad guys (wwyd questions too), play trivia, read the books, stargaze, eat pizza (or meatballs) and cake or make cookies and of course play truth or dare. The decorations would be gorgeous and adorable.
Camp Half-Blood
This is definitely a summer time party. I’m sure there are places out there that teach or let you shoot arrows and possibly even teach swordplay? like… I’m sure of it…. mostly. If not, there are fake arrows and swords so you can turn your backyard into a campsite. Having a pool would be super cool here too. I would also include blue dessert and drinks and encourage everyone to read more greek mythology while there- perhaps even make up quests.
Lunar Chronicles
Mostly, what I’m thinking is a masquerade ball. Come in your finery you want to wear, but never have a chance to wear, dressed as your favorite fairy tale character, or combine both! I also just really want a masquerade ball hahaha I thought this would be easily than Glitter which has clothing set before the French Revolution.
Sherlock Holmes
I’m thinking murder mystery party, but with riddles and clues. So, there are clues hidden around the room (or town) and the guests split up into groups in order to solve the thing (who killed who or save the world). Then once the world is saved, go eat a feast for a job well done! Dressing the part for the party afterwards is definitely something to consider 🙂
Here is what I came up with! What kind of book parties do you have in mind??
I love the Sherlock Holmes idea!

You totally should!! I’m not a huge party person, but I’m very tempted to try pulling off one of these parties ^_^

It never even occurred to me to do a Sailor Moon party, but that is such a great idea!
