Book Shuffle (2) July!

This is hosted by Clockwork Bibliophile.

On the 15th of each month, you press the shuffle button on iTunes and whichever song first appears then needs to be related to a book of your choosing. It can link to the song in any way you see fit; the tone, the lyrics reflecting something which actually happens in the book, a character’s personality, the development of a relationship – pretty much anything. The sky is the limit!

The song this time is…… Sugar, We’re Going Down by Fall Out Boy!

I really wasn’t sure which book fit with this… I really wanted one where the main character was cheated on or used and then came back for revenge or someone who talked badly about an ex, ruining their reputation and the main character get’s pay back.

The closest I came up with was Skinny Dip by Carl Hiaasen

In this book, Joey is thrown overboard a cruise boat by her husband on their anniversary. She survives and decides to get revenge on her husband, who along with mostly everyone else thinks she is dead.

So, how does it fit?

Well, Chaz (Joey’s husband) is cheating on her. [I’m just a notch in your bedpost…]
And in the end Joey, the more sophisticated one moves on with her life in a good way. […but you’re just a line in a song].

Joey is definitely more than Chaz bargained for… I mean, for starters she survives being pushed off a cruise ship and begins to terrorize his life without him even realizing it! She is subtly stalking him and his new single life, driving him nuts.

She wasn’t letting him get away without a fight! [Sugar, we’re goin’ down swinging]

So, that’s what I was able to come up with! What do you think? What book reminds you of this song?
