Review: Taste of Darkness

Taste of Darkness by Maria V. Snyder

Genres/Themes: Fantasy, Magic, Young Adult, Romance

Finally made it to the end!!

Synopsis from Goodreads:

She’s fought death and won. But how can she fight her fears?

Avry knows hardship and trouble. She fought the plague and survived. She took on King Tohon and defeated him. But now her heart-mate, Kerrick, is missing, and Avry fears he’s gone forever.

But there’s a more immediate threat: The Skeleton King plots to claim the Fifteen Realms for his own. With armies in disarray and the dead not staying down, Avry’s healing powers are needed now more than ever.

Torn between love and loyalty, Avry must choose her path carefully. For the future of her world depends on her decision

I really enjoyed this book– really the whole series. Avry is an amazing main character, Kerrick is cool, and the rest of the main team is fabulous. I love them.

This story… it seemed all over the place but really, it was very interesting. Things are going on all around and that just makes the war aspect much more believable.

There are even quite funny moments! How can I not like this book??

“But they fight in the name of the creator.”
“I don’t care if they fight in the name of broccoli. The goal remains the same.”

So, why a 3.5? I think I was just expecting more.
Don’t get me wrong, I would recommend this book to all fantasy lovers. It’s just… There are only so many times characters can seem to be dead but, truly not be or anything else to that affect. I just didn’t believe in deaths anymore and figured all the main people would make it out okay.

Bad thing? No, HEA are great. I suppose I just got bored of it.

I’m also TOTALLY going to read her other books!! A new favorite author??? YEs~!
